The Secret Tent. Commissioned by Larmer Tree Festival. In collaboration with Hunter-Gatherers. I was invited to run an origami workshop in their Secret Tent at blissful Larmer Tree Festival (14-17th July) in Dorset. I can’t wait to go back there next year.

You will never find The Secret Tent unless you are invited. A limited number of maps leading to the tent’s location will be secretly released during the festival. If you are approached by a stranger or find yourself in an unusual conversation, perhaps you have been invited. Check your bags and pockets, you might now have a map. If you choose to follow the map mysterious treats await you. Perhaps you will enter a Japanese tea tent or a private gig or stumble upon an exclusive wine tasting, perhaps if you are lucky, you may find yourself facing your future.

2000 origami lotus flower installation
Candle lit giant origami lotus flowers commissioned by Brighton Festival 2011. The installation is open for public viewing at Queens Park, Brighton on Sunday 29th May during Brighton Festival 2011 finale, Freedom Picnic, an alfresco celebration of liberty for all.

The Process - Lotus Flower
Brighton Festival 2011 commission: “2000 Lotus Flowers”
Aung San Suu Kyi’s release in 2010 was a true moment of celebration, but there are still over 2,100 political prisoners in Burma. To raise awareness of this, I was commissioned by the Brighton Dome and Festival to lead the project to make over 2,000 flowers to represent each detainee. The lotus flower represents freedom and purity and is a global emblem of new beginnings and positive change. At the end of the Festival, on Sunday 29th May 2011, these flowers will be taken to the Freedom Picnic in Queens Park for a final installation piece. 10 giant lotus flowers can be seen floating on the pond within the park.

The Workshop/Event - Brighton Festival 2011 launch
In collaboration with Hunter Gatherers, I run The Brighton Festival launch event on 26th February 2011. It was a huge success and I loved watching people getting lost in making origami lotus flowers.
